Urban Planning

In Adelaide,

So,

A part of Mr Lee Hsien Loong's speech during the launch of Clean & Green Singapore in 2014:

"We want a liveable, sustainable city; we want a city that we are proud of and we must make the effort to do it. But we can do this, with the public, private and people sectors. We can make it happen. We can maintain where we are, overcome the shortcomings, the places that we have not done good enough, and make it better. So let us work together to build a beautiful Singapore that we can proudly call our home."

Sustainable Singapore Blueprint

Renewable Energy Sources

Sustainable. Environmentally sound. Improved public health.

Waste-To-Energy

Collaboration between PUB, NEA & Anaergia: A pilot project to produce biogas for electricity generation from used water sludge and food waste through anaerobic digestion

Objectives: to see whether it's feasible to recover energy from food waste and used water sludge via anaerobic digestion

If successful, the process may be implemented at NEA’s future Integrated Waste Management Facility and PUB’s Tuas Water Reclamation Plant.

Poo Power

As the name suggest, it's a power generated by anaerobically digesting chicken poo.
Our local egg farms, Seng Choon & Chew Agriculture has set up biogas plants to turn bird poo into electricity so as to make their operations more sustainable and eco-friendly.

From Bird Poo to Biogas Power Process
Conveyor belt whisking away chicken poo for later treatment
So, Chew's farm rear about 750,000 chicken which produces 60 tons of droppings a day while Seng Choon collects about 70 to 80 tons per day. Before the biogas plant was set up in 2014, these birds' manure is treated so as to be sold as fertiliser, a process that requires a lot of money, space, energy and manpower. Since adopting biogas technology by Anaergia Pte Ltd, they are able to save resources as well as the environment.
